#152 American Lakes, Lower (w/flowers) << Near Cameron Pass, CO >> American Lakes (also called Michigan Lakes) is a moderate hike (~3.3 miles, mostly uphill) from the trailhead in the Colorado State Forest. It’s a beautiful hike, with flowers, trees and streams on the lower part and wide vistas near the top.
It’s a great backpack or hiking (or x-c skiing) destination, with beautiful scenery and fishing at the lakes, and nearby Thunder Pass provides access to the lightly traveled northwest corner of Rocky Mountain National Park.
